Uking Suwardi is an Indonesian musician, composer, and artistic director of Angklung. He was born on June 29, 1932 in Bandung, West Java.

Uking Suwardi began learning angklung at the age of 10 from his father, a traditional angklung player. He then continued his studies at the Indonesian School of Music in Bandung, where he graduated with a diploma in 1955.

After graduating from the Indonesian School of Music, Uking Suwardi joined Saung Angklung Udjo, an educational and artistic institution dedicated to the preservation and development of Angklung. At Saung Angklung Udjo, Uking Suwardi works as a musician, composer and artistic director.

Uking Suwardi is known as an innovative figure in the playing and development of angklung. He combines traditional angklung playing techniques with modern music playing techniques. He has also composed many angklung works, including the famous "Angklung Concerto".

Uking Suwardi's work has helped to popularize Angklung internationally. He brought Angklung to many countries around the world, including the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Uking Suwardi passed away on May 26, 2019, in Bandung, West Java, at the age of 86. He left behind valuable works for the development of Angklung in Indonesia.
